Our GPS program and technologies enhance project management with precision, streamlining construction, minimizing errors, and boosting results. GPS guides operators on grading equipment, ensuring accurate earthmoving, while Grade Foremen use GPS Rovers to confirm accuracy on-site. We also utilize GPS for drone surveys to capture topography, monitor earthmoving progress, and manage material volumes at asphalt plants.

Our Quality Control (QC) Department ensures asphalt mix accuracy with lab-testing facilities at each of our plant sites. Their role is essential in making sure every project meets strict standards, specifications, and regulations, so you enjoy a smooth, durable, and safe ride. Collaborating closely with crews, our QC experts ensure that the asphalt laid on the job matches the quality of the lab-tested samples with on-site testing and real-time adjustments.

With a fleet of more than 1100 pieces of equipment, 47 GPS machine control systems, 15 asphalt plants and 8 shops from Raleigh to the Coast, Barnhill is an equipment giant in the Southeast. Our asphalt plants are strategically positioned to service the urban areas of our communities and are geared for high production. Shops are also located inside of the divisions, ready and prepared to provide support and maintenance to and for our crews, day and night.

From the initial bid to the final project closeout, our project management and estimation teams are involved at every stage, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Our philosophy has always been that the employee who carefully crafts the project estimates should also oversee the project through to final billing.
